- ✓ Equipment group (I = mining, II = surface industries)
- ✓ Equipment category (1, 2, 3 for group II; M1, M2 for group I)
- ✓ Protection type codes (e.g., Ex d, Ex e, Ex ia, Ex tb)
- ✓ Gas group (IIA, IIB, IIC) and dust group (IIIA, IIIB, IIIC)
- ✓ Temperature class (T1-T6) or max surface temperature for dust
- ✓ Equipment Protection Level (Ga, Gb, Gc, Da, Db, Dc, Ma, Mb)
- ✓ IP rating suffix (when present)
Does not check
- ✗ Certificate numbers or notified body references
- ✗ Specific ambient temperature ranges (Ta or Tamb)
- ✗ Whether the marking matches a specific product's certification
- ✗ Zone classification of the installation area
- ✗ Compliance with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU administrative requirements
