- ✓ All-numeric characters
- ✓ GS1 mod-10 check digit
- ✓ GS1 prefix allocation (indicates where the number was assigned, not where the entity is located)
Does not check
- ✗ Whether the GLN is registered in a GS1 database
- ✗ Whether the entity/location still exists
- ✗ GEPIR lookup
