  • Optional sheath material code (same letter set)
  • Optional special construction markers (H, H2, H6, D)
  • Conductor type after the dash (U, R, K, F, H, D, E)
  • Core configuration (J/O prefix, count, cross-section)
  • Explains each segment in plain language

Does not check

  • National designation systems (German NYM/NYY, British BS, French U-1000, etc.)
  • Whether the specific combination is commercially available
  • Current-carrying capacity or installation compliance
  • Manufacturer-specific suffixes or color codes
